Johnny Cash singing Solitary Man.
Interesting.
Beth, have you heard the Tribute to Johnny Cash album with many doing one of JC's songs? It's great! Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carptenter, Sheryl Crow, Wyclef Jean; unbelievable!
Sounds good, sweetC. I'll see if i can find a copy round here.
well, alrighty then: Beth, PLEASE find the America: Tribute to Heroes album and you won't believe who's on there!!! Wyclef Jean doing Redemption Song; Bruce Springsteen doing My City's In Ruins; Dixie Chicks doing I Believe In Love; Dave Matthews doing just an incredible solo acoustic version of Everyday; Tom Petty doing I Won't Back Down; I'm telling you, this one's a keeper and I'm certain I've left out amazing artists and their performances. but, then again, only if you like that kind of music ...

grrr ... i've been downloading tracks from "emmet ray" from kazaa, after coming across one that i really liked ...
so ... yesterday i found out that "emmet ray" is a fictitional musician, from the movie "the sweet and lowdown" ... all these tracks are from the soundtrack, then, i guess.
<giggles>. cant help make you grin, that, tho, 'f you think about it. weird new dilemmas, this new interactive music age brings, no?
so who the songs really by? I dunno. Amazon only gives names for a few songs on the soundtrack, the others dont have the musicians listed. The IMDB gives a lot of names for the songs on the soundtrack - and theyre different ones than what Amazon says. Grumble.
Wathing and listening to American Grafatti, love those 50s songs and the Wolf Man.
It was the Yardbirds now it's Led Zeppelin #2
<smile> will always love listening to England Dan and Tom coley..."I'd really love to see you tonight"
Fountains of Wayne - Welcome Interstate Managers
U-Roy, Eek-A-Mouse, Gilberto Gil, the Ethiopians, Marcia Griffiths, the Upsetters, Dennis Brown, Owen Gray, Justin Hinds and the Dominoes, Linton Kwesi Johnson.
All at once, habibi? How you doin'?
hehheh ... nah, its a playlist.
i hardly get round to playing cd's anymore, its all mp3s now. we have some 1,600 tracks on the computer here ..
changes your entire listening experience, kinda, cause you learn to 'live by the song' - remembering how such and so is a really good track, without realising or remembering anymore from what album, what band ...
minus: loss of context. but plus: getting to peer in the most interesting and previously unknown musical corners!
it also got me used to listening to sequences of tracks that are much more 'random' (in terms of genre, style) than what you'd be used to in terms of compilation cd's and the like ... and then you find that the weirdest **** can suddenly go perfectly together!
kinda like in the "Universal Cosmic Groove" (http://www.weirdsville.com/ucg.htm) (man, are those weird sets <grins>)
the above PL is all rocksteady/reggea/dancehall, though ...
and i'm doin OK, thanks for asking! how are you?
<smiles>
