Everybody Draw Mohammed Day! | Facebook

it is also a breach of 3 different laws within the United States that restrict freedom of Speech w.r.t. rights of individuals regarding ethnicity, race and religion. Facebook qualifies for a lawsuit if it does not remove this group before the 20th of may 2010, by US law.

Details of the legal practicalities can be seen here:
Link: FactFile Blog Archive Facebook qualifies for its biggest lawsuit yet ? Draw Muhammad Day

People from all religions and races should refrain from exercising free speech in defamatory hate statements, hate crimes and incitement to violence. Mutual respect for each others beliefs and sanctity of all religions should be kept intact on all social forums to ensure we bridge gaps between all men, instead of aggravating relations more. Genuine efforts towards removing such communities, be they against any religion, is our duty as responsible individuals. Ideas for better, responsible regulation of content over facebook and other social networks would be greatly appreciated.

@murtaza cv,
Why should they remove it, it's freedom of speech, don't like it? Move to a country under Islamic control.

Maybe if the loonytoons in Islam didn't kill people that drew funny pictures of of your so called prophet, than there wouldn't be a backlash against your lunacy.

It would be freedom of speech if someone decided to shout gross things about my Mother at my door, but I'd kick him slowly to death whatever. Provocation is all this crap is, intended to get people killed, designed, like the original nazi cartoons, to help nazis.

If a jury of my peers agreed. I don't think they would, knowing the nazi scumbag had earned it.

Can the loony left not invoke Godwins Law? Is it possible? Where are these "Nazis"?

You, and people like you, I suppose, if the cap fits. People who deliberately work up racial and similar hatreds should all face de-nazification tribunals, as at the end of the War. Their purpose, always and everywhere, is to defend the status quo by deflecting people's attention from what is really going on into spite and silliness. Which Godwin was that then, child - the Anarchist philosopher, Shelley's father-in-law, or one of the good old boys down the local bar-room?

Actually I have to sort of agree with 92b.

Other peoples religious customs should not dictate, what I can and cannot do. If I want to criticize Islam, or Christianity, or even Scientology, I should be able to do that without fearing for my life.

They are not criticising Islam - they are deliberately engaging in behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace. Who is stopping you criticising Islam, or scientology? What these people are doing is deliberately insulting Muslims who are doing nothing to them, who do not control them or in any way dominate their lives, and they are doing it to get people killed so as to build up racist hatred. This has nothing whatever to do with freedom of speech. On a site which prevents my using - even in explaining historical matters - an old Latin word for 'black' because it was used by racists, your position seems to me illogical.

Any criticism can cause a breach of the peace. Social change often causes unrest. Rosa parks refusing to give up her seat to a white person, was a breach of the peace. Emit till whistling at a white woman, and then being murdered for it was a breach of the peace.

Should Emit have whistled at a white woman? No, probably not, but being murdered for it was an extreme injustice. I feel the same way about the Muhammad drawings. There is an underlying issue hear that simply cannot be ignored.

Those who are giving death threats.

As i've pointed out to 92b in another thread, we are not talking about all Muslims, we are talking only of the radicals, those who are willing to kill for a cartoon. They certainly have done things in attempt to control other people's lives.

Only Muslims are forbidden from drawing Muhammad, this tradition does NOT even apply to non-muslims so why are people being killed over it?

We cannot give in to fear, we cannot be intimidated, or we lose our ability and right to say what we will no matter how uncouth without fearing for our lives.

If we base our societal rights on what we can/cannot say on an internet forum then.....society is doomed!
