Let's hear what "SNOPES" and "DAVID EMERY" have to say about NOSTRADAMUS & 9.11

Did Nostradamus Predict the 9-11 Attacks?

and

snopes.com: Nostradamus Predicted 9/11?

Did Nostradamus Predict 9-11? (cont.)

"Once again, a very few words actually written by Nostradamus — individual lines drawn from two disparate quatrains, in fact — have been taken out of context, rearranged, and supplemented with made-up lines by person(s) unknown to make them seem pertinent to the event. The result, as before, is pure bunk. Not even Nostradamus would want to take credit for this "prediction." Anyone else want to have a go?"

Ok, I'll give it a shot...

Unless the atheist is right, and there is no god to sin against.

Isn't sin itself an exclusively religious concept?

Do I need to explain the flaw in this reasoning?

All discoveries start out as a belief of a tiny minority.

@Fatal Freedoms,
I'm not an atheist, because there is no proof that god does not exist.
I'm a "teapot agnostic"--I can't prove that god does not exist, nor can I prove that a teapot is not orbiting Mars.
It's just that the esistence of god, like an orbiting teapot, is really, really unlikely.

If anyone has any proof for the existence of god, then go ahead and share it. Until then, I'll believe in god like I believe in teapots or the tooth fairy--Not!

Do you believe in Santa or are you agnostic in regards to santa?

Why do you afford god special consideration?

Usually if something can be neither proven nor disproven we just say we don't believe in it. Would you chastise someone who said the tooth-fairy isn't real, because we can't disprove the tooth fairy?

I don't seem atheism and agnosticism as being at odds. Atheism is about belief and agnosticism is about knowledge.

@atheistequalizer,
"Why do you afford god special consideration?"

He probably does because it allows a little more amelioration with the generally hostile majority group in the country he lives in, who happen to believe in said fairy tale.

Of course, it's not like it's unlikely that millions upon millions would believe in a fairy tale. After all, look at all the various mutually contradictory religions believed by millions of people, the majority in their own countries.

@atheistequalizer,
Ummmmmmm considering 'atheist' just means no belief, I doubt it is dead.

I am not really an atheist, but the ones I have known have been the mostethical and moral people I have met.

My point is that we live in a culture in which saying the tooth-fairy isn't real is acceptable, while saying the same about god is often seen as being in bad taste.

I don't believe in god, I don't believe in tea pots in orbit around Mars, I don't believe in the tooth fairy. But I can't prove they don't exist.

@jpn of Seattle,
It's not your job to prove they don't exist to begin with.

There are an infinite number of "possible" things out there. But without positive evidence for them, it's silly to argue for their existence.

In other words: I'm pretty darn sure there are no unicorns. Until somebody shows me one in a convincing manner, I'll stick with the likelihood that they don't exist, and I certainly won't change my life in a manner required by their existence unless I got that convincing proof.

The same is true of most theists, too. But the god of the culture, and in fact the culture's superstitions, aren't treated the same as unicorns.

I'm not just talking about here in America, but everywhere you'll find ridiculous beliefs beyond evidence, and find that pointing out their ridiculous nature will not be well received by many. You won't change their minds, either, regardless of how silly it seems to us here. Same with us. Same with me, surely, on many things I think are true.

That doesn't mean we should quit pointing it out when we see it, though.

@synthy,
Since there are about 1.5 billion people in this world who do not believe in god, this statement is ridiculous.

Atheists don't have time to try to convert Christians, we're too busy trying to not get kicked in the groin by them.
