Highschool Football coach in hot water after joining team in prayer

NJ.com: Everything Jersey

important things to note

The law prohibits mandated or school led prayer. In this case the students took it upon themselves to pray. The coach never mandated prayer or supported it, peer led prayer is protected under the 1st amendment in schools. Being of a like mind the coach joined in, this is what the ACLU took a problem with. They claim by law the coach cannot join in to the students prayers

my personal thought

How hypocritical is this? It's safe to say that if this coach was speaking about anti Jewish topics, pro Muslim speech, or even Child Abuse (the ACLU is a well documented supporter of NAMBLA) the ACLU would be the first to run to his protection.

while the coach has no business leading prayer before the game, the students have every right to do it if they want to and the coach should be free to join in or leave the room

@rugonnacry,
Man this ALCU needs to be disbanded. It has caused more problems than have helped anyone. It started with a good idea. But has sense been overwelmed with the law srudents and the left wing teachings they get in college. Or is it the righ wing teachings. Gosh hard to keep up with what is what till crap like ths is in the news.
good post, thanks.

they are severly left wing. The idea of the ACLU is great, the execution of it anymore is terrible. The only civil liberties they protect anymore are liberal in nature unfortunatly
