When the United States claims to be a nation under god...what god do they speak of ?
Clarification is most needed in a world that serves many deities

The "god" served usually produces a certain kind of people-Hallmark

I had an encounter with something once..could not see it but could feel it. Beyond the seemly limitless power it possed was the purity of its ora..intoxication energies of perfect peace and endless wisdom [filling my body]..at times I resent this experience.. because "it" is perfect peace..while that outside(dimension)it...CHAOS

Nevertheless I want this being to be my God...I take my chances on invoking this Ghost

@mousy,
Mousey, There is no lower case "god" in the motto. Lower case implies a man created god, not God Almighty. Man created gods are not God.

"The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War."
U.S. Treasury - Fact Sheet on the History of"In God We Trust"

Thanksgiving Proclamation
[New York, 3 October 1789]
By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor--and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

@mousy,
Mousy, Here in the snowy and very cold Canada, we have the same God, and he is the God of the Bible, not to be confused with Budda, or Allah.

Buddah followers would not mind me saying this because Buddism is a way, and a teachings, and so a Christians can follow the way of Buddism, or at least acknowledge the beautiful symplicity of it, while having a relationship with Jesus.

And what religion are you Mousy? don't answer, it is a joke, as if l don't know!!!

You accept the existence of ghosts. You believe in spirits but not in God? I think you do not have one without the other. You think you have prove of a spirit, in ensense this to me is proof of God.

Christians can follow the way of Christ? Persecution, rejection, crucifixion -In his name..nothing like a blood sacrifice as proof to the Lamb..
muslims have no problem proving it to ALLAH

@mousy,
mousey l realize this is a second language for you but it is hard to figure out what you are saying, can you expand your sentences...

In regard to Christ, he died for our sins, so we are all his children. In fact as a muslim, you were told by Mu {pkhih}to honour the Holy Scriptures which is the bible, so l suggest you start.

---
and {pkhih} means please keep him in hell.
a little prayer to God, not to be confused with allah, the moon god.

@mousy,
I beleive God is essentially the same for all monotheistic "religions" . Some , however , pervert the teachings of God for their own reasons , then use those interpretations to differentiate themselves from others and to further strife and dissention among nations and people .
