The Art of Controversy, by Arthur Schopenhauer

Not only well written and thorough, but very appropriate for what we are trying to do here.

Interesting. I just recently tried reading this a couple of months ago. I'm not a big Schopenhauer fan but the title looked intriguing. But I was only able to get about a third into the book before I quit. I was expecting him to analyze bad argument--how to spot cheap debater's tricks. Instead he advocates using those tricks. Seems like the kind of thing Socrates complained about with the Sophists. Well, if nothing else, he surprised me there.
