I don't know many of you, but I haven't heard a lot of Roman Catholic sentiment coming from this site. I thought it was interesting that Pope Benedict XVI (a "dummy" pope until a better one could be found) is on the brink of breaking a tradition that stems back over a millenium. If one member of a married couple has AIDS, the couple is allowed to use condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS from one partner to another. While most carriers of AIDS probably aren't Catholic and married, this could possibly curb one of the largest epidimics in history. Will it have as large of an effect in Africa as they suppose it to have?

I don't think it'll have much of an effect even if he allows it.

Lots of catholics practice contraceptives anyways.

Even the migrant workers with 1400 babies?

I think the Vatican should give them free condoms...that's where the deep ecologists should go with their overpopulation problems.
