My dad used to sing this Belfast street song to us when we were kids, and I'd like to find out its history and the rest of the lyrics. "Our Dick was a bendy soldier, he fought for the bendy troops, and all that they were fighting for, was the want of an old pair of boots. When baps and buns were flying, he got hit by a stale barnbrack, he fell stone dead like a ticket of bread, wrapped up in a Union Jack."

@Rigmarole,
Another childhood one from my native Falls Rd. area of Belfast was:

King Billy was a bendy soldier,
He fought for the bendy crooks,
He fought for the sake of Linfield*
To buy a pair of boots.

When baps and scones* were flyin',
He got hit by a hard barm-brack,*
And he dropped dead like a tatey bread*
All warapped in the Union Jack.

*Linfield - local Unionist soccer team;
*baps and scones - bread rolls;
*tatey bread - potato pancake
