I've heard dozens of versions of this song, but nothing can beat (or make me cry) like the original. Which song is this? Watch the Movie "Meet Me In St. Louis" with Judy Garland (pre Wizard Of OZ). The movie itself goes thru the lives of one family right at the time of The World's Fair in St. Louis. At Christmas they are about to move from St. Louis and the youngest daughter isn't dealing well with it. Judy sits her down and sings "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas". . . . . . I've seen this movie a hundred times and I cry my eyes out EVERY time I hear this song. The other versions are good, and I get nostalgic, but nothing does it for me like Judy garland's version!
This year it's especially important to me since my husband just lost his job. In the movie Judy tells the little girl that everything will be O.K. in the year to come. . . . and I have to believe it too.
