Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd

This song literally brings tears to my eyes. Such a beautiful song with such heart-felt lyrics. Pink Floyd has such a way with music they're one of the only bands that i can actually say i truthfully feel the emotion in their music. I really love this song in particular, it's really just amazing. Such meaning and thought behind the lyrics with an equally meaningful and beautiful melody. Here are the lyrics...

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Anyone else a fan of this song?

@Yogi DMT,
I only saw this thread now, so you will have to excuse my very late answer. But it is one of my favourite songs. I don't get it, but I guess it means different things to different people. I probably like it so much because I can't get it.

@Yogi DMT,
i understand how you feel. i am a big fan of that song, i've felt that way myself, a lost soul, swimming in a fishbowl, running over the same old ground.

the song that really really gets me, can bring me to tears, is wasted years by iron maiden. i have felt exactly the words in the lyrics.

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas,
I'm traveling on, far and wide,
But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself,
And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but someone else.

I close my eyes, and think of home,
Another city goes by, in the night,
Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it til it's gone away,
And my heart is lying there and will be til my dying day.

Chorus:
So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years,
Face up...make your stand,
And realize you're living in the golden years.

Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind,
Can't ease this pain, so easily,
When you can't find the words to say, it's hard to make it through another day,
And it makes me wanna cry, and throw my hands up to the sky.

Chorus:
So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years,
Face up...make your stand,
And realize you're living in the golden years.
