The other day my friend offered me a book to read; Illusions; The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah, by Richard
Bach. I was expecting either very philosophical or very shallow, but it's a great blend of story and philosophy. It's a quick read, but it's very thought provoking. It brings up the ideas of what is reality, what isn't, our freedom to make our lives as we choose them to be, and our relationship with the world around us while keeping it on a lighter note with a background storyline.
It's really very good, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good, quicker read.
