I'm trying to identify a song by a girl group of the mid-80s. Trouble is I don't know the title and I'm unsure of the group! I do remember large parts of the lyrics, though.
I *thought* the group was The Motels, but I can't find any Motels sites with song lyrics.
The song is sung by a woman whose marriage has broken up. She is thanking everybody for their concern, but apologizes because she is doing just fine.
Pieces of lyrics include: "time passed as the perfect couple..." "I'm sorry if it wasn't awful. It wasn't the end of the world." She talks about having learned how to do her own electrical repairs and that she did puzzles, having bought a dictionary "and looked up all the hard words." The song ends with her answering repeated phone calls--"sorry, I'm fine."
This song popped back into my mind recently. Back in the 80s it got me through a breakup of my own and I'd be interested to know what the hell it was.
Thanks!!
