Hi.
I have a rather large music collection stored on my computer, all in different formats: some in MP3 and others in WMA. I would like to convert all to MP3 but don't want to spend the time going though each song and checking which format it is in. Is there a converter out there that will allow me to select all the songs and it will automatically change files when necessary? If not, which is the best way to go about this; converting WMA files to MP3?
Also, what does one mean when they say normalize MP3 files? Is that something I would want to do? What's a good program to do that with?
Thanks.
I use
Audio MP3 Converter to do the job.
Just open it, select all of your WMA files and tell it to convert them all to MP3s (or the reverse). It'll convert about 60 or so files at a time. (It should be easy enough to use Windoze to sort them all for you. Just tell Windoze to sort the files by type.

)
"Normalizing" your MP3s gets them all set to the same volume level so that when you play them back you don't have to change the volume settings to hear them or prevent yourself from getting blasted out.
i wouldn't suggest converting lossy audio. but if you absolutely have to you can use dbpoweramp.
as for normalizing, there's mp3gain.
