@Pamela Rosa,
(The) Red Snowball Tree (1974), Soviet drama

A top film that year in the Soviet Union, oddly its screenwriter, director and star, Vasiliy Shukshin died suddenly that October while on a ship.

@Sturgis,
Time After Time

"H.G. Wells has just invented a time machine but hasn't tried it out yet. When he discovers that one of his friends is actually Jack the Ripper, Jack makes his escape using the time machine. Herbert follows Jack into the late 1970's where he meets Amy, a bank clerk, who teaches Herbert about life in 70's while they pursue Jack, who is enjoying the more violent society in which he continues his murderous activities."
—Rob Hartill

Notably, during the filming Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen fell in love, married and had two children.

@glitterbag,
I'm reading Simon Winchester's OUTPOSTS. It's about the British colonies all around the world. I like to read Winchester, because he does his homework and transforms it into journeys we can get involved in. I've visited some of the places in the book like South Georgia Islands' Grytviken where Ernest Shackelton is buried where I have visited. Ernest Shackelton is one of my heroes. He saved all those who went on the expedition to Antarctica when his ship got stuck in the ice and was eventually crushed by it. Also, some of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and Hong Kong. Winchester visited all the British colonies to see for himself what vintages of his country were still evident at these outposts and wrote about his experiences. It's a must read for history buffs who enjoys the first hand account of a good writer.
