The movie was especially interesting to me because of Julius Harris who has a pretty meaty role as NYPD Insp. Daniels. Julie was an old friend from NYC days when he was working janitorial jobs in Greenwich Village while auditioning for minor roles on and off Broadway. He finally made it on the West Coast, then died young.

That movie must have been a real sleeper. I never realized that Doctorow's fine novel had ever been made into a film until I looked it up in Wiki.
