To Have and Have Not (1945)
[It's supposedly based on the Ernest Hemingway novel of the same name but the
only resemblances between the book and the movie are the title and the names of a couple of the main characters. But it's on the set of this flick that Bogey met Bacall and the line "You know how to whistle, don't you?" became a stock phrase in the American idiom.]
[ps -- for my money, the film is better than the novel. And I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Hemingway aficianado.
