Apart from shooting them - how do I persuade Indian mynahs that they're unwelcome guests.

@gazza48,
Phone a falconing club and ask if they have any members in your area who want to feed their birds....or set up a eagle nesting spot....something along those lines depending on where you are...most small birds will move if a bird of prey moves in. Cats wont do it, they dive bomb cats.

You can have native birds or Indian Mynas " but not both. " Ian Fraser, local naturalist & 2006
Winner Aust Natural History Medallion
One of World’s 100 Most Invasive Species
" World Conservation Union
These birds are nicknamed the flying cane toad

These birds are both a serious environmental threat to our (Australian)
wildlife and a major nuisance in people’s backyards, around schools and shopping centres. By taking over nesting hollows and preying on eggs, chicks and young they are a threat to our native rosellas, kookaburras etc and small mammals, like sugar gliders. Many people are also greatly disturbed by the way they scare native birds away from their gardens and foul their patios and barbeque areas.

First step is proper identification. You need to be sure you are not confusing the indian Myna with other birds like the Noisy myna . Look here to check

How to trap mynas
Traps are to be only placed on private property, to avoid possible public sensitivity and public liability issues and to avoid vandalism.

Reducing food sources for indian mynas may assist.

Remove/cover pet food and ask neighbours to do the same.
Remove or cover compost heaps.
Keep domestic rubbish bins covered
cafe's and outdoor eateries are a source of food for noisy mynas.
