I was wondering if someone could enlighten me with the answers to the following? I feel I should know them but they are not coming to me!

1. A body of troops stationed in a fortified place (8 letters)

2. The bride's man is involved in athletic activity (10 letters)

I had thought of Groomsport for the latter but port isn't exactly an athletic activity!

Thank you.

@RuthA,
1. Garrison

If Groomsport is a place in northern Ireland, it'll fit as the bride's man is singular so that would be Groom-sport
