@Region Philbis,
I'm really going to miss that guy. He was an exciting, talented 5-skills-player, dependable (when not injured) and he added the needed electricity to continue the spark provided from Pedroia. Not sure they'll be able to replace his unusual skill set, even though freeing up that huge salary/salary demand would help.

@Linkat,
That's for sure. when he went to the Damned Yankees he 'Johnny Damon-ed' on us only that he's far more talented and younger (UI think) at trade time.

Umm if Mujica is an answer, what was the question? Losing Catcher Salty and gaining Catcher Pierzynski...could be a personality/combative competitor might be interesting to the final team mix...but hardly the defensive improvement they needed nor much if any offensive improvement behind the plate.

Moving sideways..mebbe? Still waiting for the blockbuster or something different from the front office. Beltran or ?

Oh my I just saw my terrible grammar to think I said the opposite of what I meant.

Please change to I cannot EVER wear it again.

Yes I will need to hold a special ceremony - where we burn everything associated even remotely to that person and the evil empire.

Hey! Thanks for sending Salty down to Miami. Maybe we can build a team instead of sell it off

@Region Philbis,
With all these soaring contractual price tags of top tier talent, Napoli has scored a beauty. Smart Sox mgm't has been pretty wise in not handing mega-year (more than 3yrs) contracts. They hopefully learned a vital lesson from trheir own and Yanks mega-mistakes.

That being said, I sure do like me some Napoli. What an invaluable, vital role he has playing catcher (when needed) and first base. Now if he could cutout those mega strikeout numbers we'd all be happy as a calm dinnah!

@Ragman,
The only problem with the role (and his valued skillset) he'll play is that it looks like he won't be doing much in the way of catching. Maybe with Salty gone he will catch some with that recent acquisition of Pierz? Hard to figure from the sparse info.

"Playing with avascular necrosis in both hips (also known as “the injury that ruined Bo Jackson“), Napoli doesn’t figure to squat behind the plate anymore. But it’s not all bad — every cloud has silver linings."

@Ragman,

i don't think he caught a single inning this year.
he's basically a full-time 1B/part-time DH now...

@Region Philbis,
FWIW, historically Sox have loaded up on those - and overpaid to boot.

Jerry Remy Announces He’s Returning To NESN’s Red Sox Broadcast Booth

When the Red Sox return to New England television screens this spring, fans will once again be hearing the familiar voice
of Jerry Remy describing the action.

Remy, 61, announced on Twitter on Monday that he will be returning to the NESN broadcast booth for the 2014 season.

“I’ll be back for 2014,” Remy said via his @RemDawg Twitter account. “It was difficult offseason — appreciate all your
support — looking fwd to spring training.”

Remy took a leave of absence last year after his son was charged with murder. There were questions regarding Remy’s
future on NESN, but Monday’s announcement means he’ll be broadcasting Red Sox games for his 27th season.

Remy has missed several long stretches in recent years. He missed time while recovering from surgery to treat lung
cancer and also dealing with depression, and he later missed an extended period due to pneumonia.

A former major league second baseman, Remy spent seven seasons with the Red Sox from 1978-1984. He’s worked for
NESN since 1988.

@Region Philbis,
I'm so glad he's coming back! Games are just not the same without RemDawg. I love it when he and Orsillo get going and Remy laughs so hard he can't even talk. You can just hear the snickering in the background. I've missed that.
