'boida, what is up with your catcher?
Quote:
Adding fuel to baseball's bitterest rivalry, New York Yankees catcher Russell Martin said he hates the Boston Red Sox
and would relish adding to their misery by helping to eliminate them from the playoffs during this weekend's series
between the two teams.

"Anything to get the Red Sox out would be awesome for me," said Martin, who has been involved in the rivalry for one
season.

When asked why, Martin sounded like the truest Bleacher Creature.

"Because I hate the Red Sox," Martin said.

How about banishing the Red Sox from the playoffs on the grounds of bad play for this entire month?

@tsarstepan,

@Region Philbis,
It sure brings him ratings, doesn't it? but he does have a point!

Where can they go with that pitching and the lack of timely hitting. They pay a lot of money for Crawford and Lackey and no consistant production. I read where Lackey has the highest ERA for of any current starter..and in the history of Red Sox starters in their entire history.

@Ragman,

there are still 6 games left -- it's too soon to write off the team like that.
it's not just us -- the braves are going thru a similar tail-spin...

@Region Philbis,
So it's ok for you guys to hate the Yankees. But it's not ok for a Yankee to hate the Sox. Frankly, he and I haven't spoken lately, so I don't know what's in his head.

BTW, I was never a bleacher creature. I always sat in the grandstand.

This Yankees series is their last chance. I tell ya, if they blow this, then I
will absolutely, positively give up on them!

That's my way of thinking as well. I was quite happy last night when Tampa won and narrowed the gap for wiping out the team from the Commonwealth located south of Vermont.

Mr.Martin should be careful though, since in baseball there are often trades and he could end up there some day...

Moistly wet. Occasionally heavy, expected moments of light drizzle, and times of no rain at all.

@Sturgis,
I hope not too wet. I don't want the game to be called.

What a bunch of wusses baseball players are. Football players play in anything--except maybe a volcanic eruption. Hot lava can really slow things down--and make everything hot.

@Roberta,
This late in the season and with a similar wet forecast for tomorrow they're more likely to wait it out. They had a similar event a week or so back, the 3 hour delay for a start.

Or maybe the team from the bay area in the Commonwealth north of Connecticut will be gracious and forefeit.

@Region Philbis,
Who gives a fig about the Braves?! The Carmin Hose promised us big things this season. With the exception of that disastrous first 3 weeks, they played for 120 games like the best team play we've seen from them in decades.

Also, the craziest (and subsequently most loyal) fans are Red Sox fans ...maybe with the exception of GB Packers fans.

My wish is they start showing more overall intensity and a better effort. Even their defensive efforts seem lack-a-daisical

Adding Insult to Injury Dep't:

This was just revealed in intereview by Yankees GM, Cashman:

"Back during December's major league free-agent frenzy, New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman admitted to Jack Curry of the YES Network that he faked having an interest in free agent Carl Crawford (notes), just so that the Boston Red Sox would have to pay more money to sign him.

Which they did, to the tune of $142 million."

Oh, who am I kidding?

It's physically impossible to not care for the Sox. It's not IN our DNA but rather it's our ENTIRE DNA to slavishly love the Red Sox.

today is not a good day to be named Lester.

at least they finally got him a run...

Crawford in the 2 hole kinda fizzled and went nowhere.

magic # is 3 with (at least) 3 more games to go.

and in case you haven't noticed, ellsbury is having quite a season.
first 30-30 season in sawx history.
comeback player of the year, and maybe more...
