Looking for info about an antique beer drinking glass

I have a set of hand blown glasses left to me - they are at least 50-70 years old. They are amber. The bottom of the vessel is a spiral of glass, making a very nice handle that makes it impossible to set the glass down. The family story is that beer is meant to be "swigged", not sipped! Can anyone give me some direction to find out more about what I have? Thanks!

@cheffieque,
Do you have a picture of them ? Could they have been made from old beer bottles ? Do you think they may have had a wooden base at some stage ?

If you have a local glass blower, start there..also some breweries will help with questions like that.
