For the obviously gifted Ms. Hegemann, who already had a play (written and staged) and a movie (written, directed and released in theaters) to her credit, it was an early ascension to the ranks of artistic stardom. That is, until a blogger last week uncovered material in the novel taken from the less-well-known novel “Strobo,” by an author writing under the nom de plume Airen. In one case, an entire page was lifted with few changes.

I am troubled to think that this book may even get an award that pays $20,000. - edgarblythe

@edgarblythe,
in an age of massive computer processing capacity due to cloud computing, and when EVERYTHING written is uploaded onto the net, why do we not have someone routinely running newly loaded stuff up against all of the content on the web? It should be easy to shut down plagiarism, by catching and then publishing it, yet it seems to be a growing problem.
