Mo and I want to make a "Clue" type game based on our house and I am looking for miniture things to use as the game pieces.
I have looking at the usual places (google, amazon), using the usual searches (bracelet charms, dollhouse accessories, game pieces) with gobs of results but no luck.
I'm hoping that someone here might know of a company that makes interesting minitures.
What we need are three people (two adults, one child), a dog, two cats, and a fish (in a bowl) for our suspects.
We also need a variety of implements used to commit the crime. I'm thinking of things we have around our house: the golf club, the frying pan, the fireplace poker.... things like that.
Can you help?
Thanks!
For the people and pets (except the fish), i would advise that you check out some hobby shops which may have things like that for train sets. Of course, those would probably be 1/2" or 3/4"--certainly not larger than 1 1/4". Give it a try, though.
@Setanta,
Heres an outfit out of New England that makes all kinds of miniature doohickies for dollhouses and train yards

JEEEZUS
I just looked at some of the prices . Theyre a bit on the pricey side for little stuff. They must be for pieces that you expect will not be broken or eaten.
@boomerang,
Here are some things I found.
Game Pieces sold on ebay:

I found these companies claiming to make game pieces:

You guys are the best!
There is a really good model train shop not too far from my house! I probably won't be able to make it there until Tuesday so I'll search around through the internet links first.
Thanks so much.
@boomerang,
Depending on how "perfect" you want it to look, I find Sculpey really useful for these kinds of things. The frying pan for example would be pretty easy to make look good with black Sculpey (or metallic silver as the case may be).

The game sounds like a great idea! Would love to see pictures when you're done.
I'm not so great with clay.... so I'm not going to try making things myself.
Farmerman's link has some AMAZING stuff: an iron skillet, fireplace tools, garden tools, a baseball bat. I think I can order my weapons from there!
It was Mo's idea to make the game and together we decided that we could make it for Mr. B's birthday -- about a month from now. Most of it will be pretty easy to make and put together so I'm not worried about spending a little money on the game pieces; I'd like it to be kind of cool.
The e-bay link was great, Robert! I see lots of old games at Goodwill. I might start picking through them. Still, I might order a gazillion Scrabble tiles from e-bay.... now I've got another idea of something fun to make......
Through my game piece adventures I've come across some really cool D&D stuff, tsar, but as we don't have that kind of weaponry around the house it really won't work for this purpose.
But hey! Maybe I should make a middle earth type "Clue"! I can hear the cash registar ringing right now!

do collins still publish a pocket dictionary
What about some molds and some polymer clay? You might be able to find ready-made molds/stamps that you want, or just make them freeform.
Here's a sampling of images that will give you an idea of what can be done with them.

You could do something like the items on this page using resin and embed miniature artwork within the resin to represent the specific items you desire.

@oolongteasup,
I understand that you must believe that you are very clever but seriously your posts hardly ever make sense.
@boomerang,
Some toy shops have really detailed doll's house furniture that might have a lot of that.
Not too sure about the wee fish and tank!
If they have them in your area, you might try crafts shops--A.C. Moore and Michael's in New England, not sure how widespread they are. And if there are any in your area, those few old-fashioned dime stores still left, which may still have all those little plastic tchotchkes that might work.
Also Greenberg's Train and Toy Shows (google 'em) travel around the country and set up in convention centers and large auditoriums, they do model train stuff and dollhouse stuff, and there are other similar circuits. One may come somewhere near you in sufficient time.
@boomerang,
Is there a Chinatown anywhere near you?
Quite a few shops in the big Chinatowns near us have racks and racks of these things kind of like key fobs that have miniaturized thingies hanging off of them - little animals, furniture, etc. I bought a dozen or so of them for the Madison get-together. Swimpy's had a string of tiny hot peppers on it.

I wish I could send you the computer mouse we're using right now - it's from the Crayola collection and has a small snowglobe as its body - with a seascape.
Goodwill and Value Village are often good sources of small things - leftover bits from dollhouses and trainsets and game pieces.
