@JPB,
No, alas, I bought Boulder sea salt and pepper chips for $2.29 just this week.

I don't mind doing this once in a while, but this week was too soon.

The alcohol doesn't make you lose the weight, it's that you're not as hungry
after having had a glass of red wine. Beer, on the other hand, is more of a stimulant I think.

@ossobuco,
I'm not familiar with Boulder chips but Zapp's sea salt and pepper chips are the world's greatest food.

@CalamityJane,
I must be different - I like to eat with red wine - pasta especially and steak and if after dinner then I want dark chocolate with my wine.

Beer fills me up so I don't want anything to eat.

I've got to mention something, here. I have diabetes, and alcohol does not curb my appetite. Unless I've just chowed down on a large burger and a larger platter of fries, alcohol causes my blood sugar to crash, often into the hypoglycemic range. At that point, I eat. And eat, and eat. . . .

Like many things involved with diabetes, your mileage may vary.

@mismi,
Robert has instituted a new policy. When you start a thread that generates ads, you get a cut from the ad revenues. Mismi, you can expect a check from something or other dieting scheme in a few days.

I think I did read an article on alcohol and losing weight within the last couple of weeks. Probably was on google news somewhere.

This is anecdotal of course -
Anyway, despite the tags about drunk posting on some of my threads, those are usually, though not always, tired posts, from me not having a life and spending too much time at a2k. (I should diversify). My alcohol use over decades has lessened but been fairly steady, with some admitted periods of increase, lower for a while now.. My weight, on the other hand, has had more to do with things like stress going to school and working, stress on quitting smoking, stress re marriage, health, stress re low income with no answers but moving. Weight sine curves were clear re stress and behavioral change once I saw it happening. A potato chip diet is not a good stress remedy. Potato chip deprivation has been working for a couple of years re weight loss.

Well, damn! I had single malt scotch for dinner last night, and some potato chips...I hoped they'd cancel each other out!

I don't normally eat potato chips.

I think some alcoholics are pretty thin, because alcohol is pretty much where all their calories come from...also they tend to smoke a lot.

It makes me hot...so I'd have thought it was upping SOMETHING.

That's interesting.....I seldom get hungry if I drink.

Perhaps that's the socializing thing....if I am socially very stimulated, I forget about hunger.

That's funny - it makes me flush as well- I get a little warm. Maybe it is the metabolism. One can only hope.

Well, that check couldn't come at a better time! Wink Boy this thread is just one big wish list. Alcohol upping the metabolism and a cut from the revenues...oh well.
