Y DID THE OBJECTIONS n CRITICISM STOP?

Y DID THE OBJECTIONS n CRITICISM STOP? I just don 't understand it.

After 9/11, W was criticised by his hateful leftist opponents
for failing to find Laden. The leftists (on this board, inter alia)
acted like his failure to find Laden was weird -- incomprehensible.
I was challenged to explain the reason that W did not find him.

I retorted that: " he 's hiding; next time, vote for Sherlock Holmes. "
That reasoning was not accepted those leftist dissidents.
Thay accused W of something sinister
( like Kennedy 's October surprize in 1962 qua the forthcoming Congressional elections ).

I said thay were nutz; paranoid n out-of-touch-with-reality-psychotic.
I pointed out that there r a lot of nooks, crannies & caves around
near the Pakistan border with Afganistan.

OK: fast forward to NOW.
O boy 's been incumbent for about a year.

I have yet to hear EVEN ONE complaint of HIS failure to find Laden.

Y did the articulated objections STOP ??

Surely its not that the leftists were only hypocritically interested in whose ox was gored, right ?

HOW IS THIS SILENCE TO BE EXPLAINED ??

well, in my opinion, bush stopped looking for bin laden and went to iraq, bad decision

obama has only just started to ramp up his chance to clean up afghanistan and perhaps find bin laden (a task i suspect he'll fail to complete, bin laden is either dead or so firmly entrenched in the no man's land of northern pakistan, where the americans won't want to go)

my criticism of bush wasn't so much that he didn't find bin laden, it was the fact that he let iraq distract him

@OmSigDAVID,
I can't speak for your leftists, as I have never met your leftists. In fact I have never met anyone who holds the opinions that your leftists seem to have. I can speak for myself (assuming you agree that I am a leftist even though I don't hold the exact positions that you think a leftist should have.).

My criticism of W was that he started a war in Iraq (because of the Weapons of Mass destruction there) that hurt our efforts against Bin Ladin.

The Iraq war helped Bin Ladin in a couple of different ways. First, America's effort was instantly shifted from Bin Ladin (who murdered thousands of Americans) to Saddam (who had never attacked America or Americans). Second, it strengthened Bin Ladins group by providing a propaganda tool (i.e. he could claim that Americans attack Middle Eastern countries without cause). Third, Bin Ladin and Saddam were natural enemies, by toppling Saddam we did Bin Ladin a favor.

As you brought up the topic of hypocrisy...

Richard Reid (the shoe bomber) was arrested under the Bush administration tried in civilian courts for trying to blow up an airplane. The underwear bomber was arrested under the Obama administration and will be tried in civilian courts for trying to blow up an airplane.

My opinion of these two cases didn't change with a different president in the White House. Has yours?

Besides, Laden has had several years prior to Obama to get well hidden.

Candor n sincerity move me to thank W
for ridding us of the threat of Saddam; he was intolerably dangerous.
He was a superwealthy homicidal maniac with a grudge against us
and access to nukes. I was concerned that when he was in the mood,
he buy a mini-nuke and sail it into a major American harbor ( like NY Harbor )
and maybe detonate it (on approach) at midnite Jan. 1 of anyyear
or on a 4th of July. That was Saddam.

I don' t wanna get nuked.

Of course, I know that Saddam will nuke us if he possibly can
( a nuclear 9/11 ), but in my opinion, Saddam was a more severe threat.

( I am pretty sure that Laden is in better health than me. )

How long does it take ?
He had loyal (fanatical) followers from the beginning.
U can 't get much more fanatical than Atta.

My right hip bothers me if I walk too much,
but Laden is like a mountain goat, carrying his AK 47 all over the place, as we see in his movies.

Probably about the time that Bush said:

Quote:
"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority.""3/13/02

Saddam was about as great a threat as Prince Charles.

That allegation is inconsistent with known fact.
He was a homicidal maniac with a grudge against us
who lived next door to half-starving Russian scientists
+ military officers and had the cash from oil riches to buy nukes from them.

If he didn't get his nukes from THEM,
the Red Chinese or the Pakistanians r other possibilities.
I learned a long time ago that u shoud not risk more than u r willing to lose.

Saddam was unpredictable and nuts.

Predictably, when the next GOP President is elected,
the incredulous demands that Laden be found will RESUME.

We have no whine; the whine about not finding Laden
mysteriously ` STOPPED when O boy got into the White House
and it has not been heard from since.

Y do u imagine the flow of Laden-based whine stopped, DD ??
