Can someone please help me with one of the clues in the Baffler 126?
Protective magic spells......I have *ARDS.
Is it WARDS ? I cannot find a reference to the answer anywhere. If you know the answer please help me, I am going out of my brain. Could you also put in a reference where I can see the answer in a dictionary or encyclopaedia.
It may be WARDS but it doesn't make too much sense to me...thanks.

@jacaranda,
Thanks very much for the support. It's really appreciated.
I dont know what upset them so much.

I was always told that if you cant say anything nice - don't say anything at all.

Thanks once again

Re. various comments about the number of solution requests by person or persons unknown. I agree wholeheartedly. One or even two requests for assistance with clues might be permissible, but to put in a string seems lazy. If anyone belongs to a library, the answers are ALL there, in one book or another and if one does not belong to a library - then join - and learn how to do things for yourself.

@James34,
Thank you,l have been going through my mags and could not find out which number equivalent we had here in uk,must have taken a bit of digging,but the one you mentioned the closing date has gone now. Now thanks to you when l see any further requests for help l will be able to check my mags and possibly help. What l have found as a great help is the 0xford crossword solver (seiko a good make),it has always been by my side when doing lovatts. Now l am off to do the April BIG which arrived in this mornings post. Good luck everyone,ttfn :-> :->

@sweda,
Sweda,
Like you I enter most of the Lovatts competitions.Currently have puzzles from 4 mags ready for posting.I have been entering for about 17 years and have one prizes here and there.Don't be disheartened,no matter how many correct solutions you submit it still comes down to being lucky enough to have your entry drawn.The fun is in the chase,the prize is a bonus.

Good Luck

@jacaranda,
Oh dear I think this is the worst lot of criticism i have read on this very helpful site and think everyone should take a step back ,have a cold shower if neccessary but cool down and have a bit of patience with with each other.With age comes knowledge so sweda hang in there.
