@boomerang,
I've been trying and trying to snap the fingers of my dominant (right) hand ever since you posted this question, boomer. No go. Cannot get any sound whatever from the fingers of that hand. Weak left hand? No prob.

Thanks all!

Non dominant is slightly edging out dominant 8 - 5 (with 3 reporting no difference).

This question arose out of dinner table conversation and an observation by Mo that we could all snap louder with the hand we didn't write with. I explained to him about a "hypothesis" and we started testing it. Our survey of friends and neighbors titled pretty heavily towards non-dominant hand so the results here are especially interesting.

This might make a good science fair project for him in a few years!

Could be to do with right/left brain dominance.
science = right brain dominant.
Arty = left brain dominant.

@Rxtine,
Yeah. It's really hard to laugh while drinking a glass of water. Since you can't always be drinking, we'll have to put that down as a temporary fix.

I can snap quietly, medium, or loudly as I choose, using either hand, about the same maximum loudness for each.

It was fun to see this pop up!

I had completely forgotten Mo's hypothesis from half his life ago. I reminded him of it after seeing it here. We had a good laugh and then experimented to see if anything had changed in our snapping abilities. I have a feeling everyone at school will be put to the snapping test today.

I have relatively short fingers and extremely wide hands. Plus the joints are stiff. I can't do a scout salute or snap my fingers anymore.
