Ah, yes. Christmas time. A time when families get together for merry-making, over-eating, and crappy gift-giving. I hate going to the mall and spending 2 hours in line to buy things I don't want to buy for people who don't want what I bought them.
That's why I shop online. Let them stand in line at the Post Office to return it. At least I didn't end up hating them for all the precious time I spent picking it out and trying to pay for it.
So, here's a place to post your favorite online stores. Because it's really the only way sane people can shop and stay sane.
Excellent! I'll be back when I can.
I do some shopping online, but I like to feel the things when I'm buying for someone else, so my online shopping is for me, except for Amazon.
If I don't want to give somebody something, I don't. These obligatory gifts... are they truly necessary?
Anyway, my favorite online spots are:
abebooks.com and ebay.com
I also purchase things from amazon, travelsmith, coldwatercreek, eddiebauer and llbean.
For some strange thing I would do a google search. I've been looking for a very heavy-duty fireplace pit with wheels & a cover.
I don't buy much on-line.. I don't buy much at all for that matter but..
For Computer parts/pieces, software and such:
PriceWatch:
http://www.pricewatch.com
For outdoor type items (camping, fishing, hiking, etc..)
Cabela's:
http://www.cabelas.com/ or
Campmor:
http://www.campmor.com/
This is where I will shop for my own special gift for myself this year
http://www.sundancecatalog.com/public/index
And I will probably buy some things for friends here

In addition I plan do a lot of shopping at: If you buy from Amazon.com through the A2k site.
Oh, good links, Sugar! I really liked the Asian one.
This year I'm making the lion's share of the gifts (sounds tacky, but hopefully they'll actually turn out quite nicely), and almost all the rest are books from my local independent bookstore. Some other places I look, though:
www.redenvelope.com
www.eziba.com
www.jjill.com
www.smithandhawken.com
Does this mean no commando shopping this year?
Since most of my stuff has to go somewheres else..its much easier to shop on line and have it sent right to them.
The kids are older..they get cash.
If I actually must go out in public shopping arenas I do it as early as possible.
www.giftcertificates.com was my favorite last year and probably will be again this year!
Not to worry - there's ALWAYS commando shopping! Well, as long as you get the coffee again this year.....
<all I can picture is a nekkid guy doing the twirly dance through the Plaza ya know>
Oh yes, for those with older teenager gals they have to buy for, my goddaughter always wants this place:
http://www.wetseal.com/
I actually like alot of their stuff as well, so anyone with youthful gals around it might be helpful!
And the last couple years she has also wanted stuff from here:

Will you explain Commando Shopping? I have two totally different ideas swimming around in my brain.
Commando Shopping - when a person has 3 days left until Christmas so they get up at the crack of dawn and get to the mall when the stores open (usually 7 during Christmas week). Armed with a large coffee and a good friend, the mall is taken by storm and the shopping mission is complete.
Approximate time to complete is 2 hours. Unless one is cranky from staying out too late drinking Miller High Lifes. Then approximate time to complete is 1 hour.
Then we go back home and crawl back into bed.
S & H Greenpoints has moved to the web. They've actually been here for a couple of years now and they have some great shopping links - and you earn points by linking through the site.
