Remember 'hate jokes'? We had a variant on the Pepsodent ad when I was in junior high: "You'll wonder where the yellow went when the H-bomb hits the Orient."

For some reason I no longer recall, we thought that was funny.

Being old doesn't bother me. It's the fart association that bothers me. Smile

Ditto. Does 39 count as an old fart?

I didn't have to even look at the multiple choices to get them all right. I guess that means I'm an old fart that watched entirely too much TV when I was a kid.

But it wasn't Dylan who popularized that phrase. I thought it was Abbie Hoffman but Panzade provided the correct answer -- Jerry Rubin via Jack Weinberger.

For extra credit . . .

What is a running board?

What was "Klondike-5" used for?

What is a blotter?

Who kilt him a b'ar when he was only three?

When I was a kid we were "Luthers", the rich kids in the same school district were "Riverside". You could tell a lot about a family by their prefix. It was such a relief when everyone just started using numbers instead.

I missed your extra credit "b'ar when he was three" question but got the others!

@Francis,
no. It means you're safe from the ravages of American culture...is that an oxymoron?

@George,
Klondike 5 was the equivalent to today's fictional 555- telephone numbers in television shows and movies.

The word (never used it myself as that system was long gone before I was born) was given to the telephone operator/switch board operator in lieu of todays dialed area code.

And isn't a running board some kind of side platform on trucks and cars. No longer exists today as I guess they don't want people to hitch rides on the outside of trucks and cars. Not exactly sure if that was the purpose or it was just to help people step up to get inside the back of the truck from the side, or a step to help people get into the cabin of the truck.

Another example of government bureaucracy run amok.

Blotter goes on a desk.

My best guess is Daniel Boone killed a bear when he was three. You might be referring to something else, George, but I'm relatively sure Daniel Boone killed at least one bear by age three.

@Ticomaya,
I've seen too many clips with mobsters hanging off the side of the car shooting their tommy guns during car chases.
