First of all, technical analysis of stocks is a suckers game. Research has shown it is basically a fraud with as much validity as tarot cards or a Ouija board.
If you want to maximize your performance in the stock market, you should be learning about telling the financial strength of companies and markets. Being able to read and understand financial statements is a far more worthwhile exercise rather than pseudo-mathematical palmistry.
That being said, I read the google pages on "japanese candlesticks". It doesn't seem like there is much there. You learn a couple of patterns to look for, and then choose stocks based on this.
