what is the "desktop" in desktop publishing
@shelbystuar,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_publishing
Quote:The term "desktop publishing" is attributed to Aldus Corporation founder Paul Brainerd, who sought a marketing catch-phrase to describe the small size and relative affordability of this suite of products in contrast to the expensive commercial phototypesetting equipment of the day.
I always assumed that the desktop referred to an office desk.
You can do publishing on your desktop or tabletop... not needing a drawing office, graphic art studio, typesetting department, etc.
