It's not the Catalan's who gave us the orange but the BASQUES. my bad...
It is a Basque word. I had a slip of memory. This is why the word is so different than the rest of our language.
I was reading about the Basques. They are believe to be the original Europeans and their language is different than all others, a pre-historic language that still has many words for rocks and rock tools.
Anyway, sorry for the mix-up. It was the Catalan's who first adopted the word and thus it began it's travels and adaptation into other languages.

what does orange rhyme with in French if it is a French word.
