Just listening to I Won't Back Down ("gonna stand my ground") by T. Petty and suddenly thought of "to be a Rock and not to Roll" (guess who).

Many songs one would not normally link seem to have the same ideas in the lyrics - another one, the Girl from Ipanema and Tall Cool One by R. Plant - and that Long Tall Woman in a Black Dress - all symbols of perfection to me.

Others?

@shunammite,
Ok here's another one - and my husband told me I had a thought disorder a while back, lol, so maybe no one else sees the connections - but I am putting them here because I CAN.

Cochise by Audioslave and Piece of My Heart by Joplin:

But here's a caution
You better understand
That I won't hold your hand
But if it helps you mend
Then I won't stop it

Go and save yourself
Take it out on me

Compare to:

I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby, (break a..)
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah. (have a..)
Hey! Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, yeah.
You know you got it if it makes you feel good,
Oh yes indeed.

@shunammite,
Ok another one - I won't do so many every day - just have a few minutes to spare today Led Zeppelin "Friends", "lookin for what I knew" compare to Get Back by the Beatles, "Get Back to where you once belonged", compared to "I Can't Find My Way Home", Blind Faith, Steve Winwood.

"Friends": Bright light almost blinding, black night still
there shining, I can't stop, keep on climbing,
looking for what I knew.

"Get Back": Get back, get back.
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back.
Get back to where you once belonged.
Get back jojo. go home
Get back, get back.
Back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back.
Back to where you once belonged.
Get back jo.

"Can't Find My Way Home": Come down on your own
and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason
I've been waiting all these years.
Somebody holds the key.

But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
Still I can't find my way home,
And I ain't done nothing wrong,
But I can't find my way home.

@djjd62,
I did not even realize there was a METHOD to the MADNESS of "mashups" until your post - I have not consciously listened to any of them before. Thanks.

I think a message takes on more power when you hear it coming from er disparate sources. If someone can jam it all together in one song that's leading the horse to water AND making him drink it!
