@Butrflynet,
If it's working on other sites for you, it's likely that we can get it working here for you as well.

Thing is, we are on a break from a2k development because our other projects that we like a lot less do better at the whole paying the bills thing, and for various reasons that has become important for our company.

So we don't have much time, and will have to get around to it when we can. I don't have IE 8 handy and haven't read the thread, so one thing that could help is if someone can summarize the reports here, namely:

1) Is everyone on IE experiencing this or not?
2) Is everyone who is experiencing it using the same security software (e.g. McAfee)?

When I get a chance, I can try implementing youtube differently and see if it resolves it.

@Robert Gentel,
I am currently experiencing this if I use IE.

However, my new version of IE has installed itself with Add-ons disabled.

I can't get it to enable add-ons, so I can't tell if that would fix it.

Here's a summary of the information people posted. I'll update the table as users add information.
Code:
User YouTube works on A2K? Browser Security Software

Butrflynet No IE 8 McAffee
Butrflynet Yes Google Chrome McAffee
dlowan no IE --
Dyslexia Yes IE --
Dyslexia Yes Firefox --
fbaezer (home) No IE --
fbaezer (work) Yes Mozilla --
Intrepid Yes IE 8 --
Smiles4Miles Yes -- --
Thomas Yes IE 6 Norton
Thomas Yes Firefox 3 Norton

No. Intrepid, dyslexia, and myself use Internet Explorer but don't have the problem.

Yes, but that's not saying much. So far, Butrflynet is the only one who has experienced the problem and posted what security software she uses. Dlowan, would you mind telling us yours?

@Thomas,
If it helps, I also use anti-malware software that Timber recommended: Spyware Blaster and SpyBot.

Spyware Blaster has a Flash Killer and I have reconfirmed that the Flash Killer setting is still disabled. I've also manually examined the registry for the Flash Killer setting (according to Adobe) and didn't find it.

Another piece of data not on Thomas' chart (thank you Thomas) is that I CAN view youtube videos that are embedded on Robert's profile page if I click on one in his youtube favorites list. That is the only spot on A2K in which I am able to view them.

I am able to view embedded youtubes on Huffington Post, Facebook and elsewhere.

By the way, it isn't just limited to youtube as a source. I am also not able to view embedded flash videos on A2K.

@Butrflynet,
There is an ad at the bottom of this page for Lord of the Rings that is an animated ad and appears to be a flash ad. It plays correctly.

Just saw an animated AARP ad also.

I haven't seen any animated ads for awhile now.

Hey! As of this moment, I can see Jespah's video on page 1 too! Hooray! Don't know what did it or who did it, but it appears to be fixed!

Thank you!

@dlowan,
Oh -- so no add-ons work for you? For example, are you unable to open a PDF document in your browser, too?

@Thomas,

(except in the sense that others down the road may have the same issue...)

Dunno...never use IE any more...only opened it specifically to check re B's now solved problem.

Never meant to not have any add ons, or not not to have any add ons!

Thing just installed itself that way, and, in the brief attempt I made last night to follow the help instructions to allow what seemed to be necessary add ons, I couldn't do what the instructions told me to do (the "Manage Add Ons" thingy was inoperative.)
