I'm mature enough to not get carried away by a deep masculine voice weaving the ******* winds for the ladies.
I'm pretty sure his pledge was to close it "by the end of the year".
I think it's pretty funny that Obama is complaining that Republicans are demagoging the closure of Guantanamo. If Obama hadn't demagoged Guantanamo during the election, he wouldn't feel so compelled to close it now.
At any rate, the right thing to do is to try the terrorists in military tribunals, and to detain the ones we can't try without charging them. It is rather silly of Obama to come up with a bunch of cosmetic changes to the process just so he can pretend to be making substantive changes, but at least he is doing the right thing and adopting all the Bush policies, despite the silly cosmetic fluff.
I'm a bit concerned about holding the ones we detain without charges in a criminal prison though. That may not be an ideal precedent next time our own guys are being held.
