here is an old - and probably also current - story about fathers' helping kids with their homework .
teacher summons student to his desk to question him about his homework - which had been done largely by student's father .
teacher : "did you write this all by yourself or did someone help you ? " .
student : " i wrote it all by myself , sir ! ".
teacher - shaking head : " i don't understand - you usually write quite well - i'd have sworn someone dumber than you had written it " .
