Traces

Faded photograph, covered now with lines and creases
Tickets torn in half, memories in bits and pieces
Traces of love, long ago that didn't work out right
Traces of love.

Things we used to share, souvenirs of days together
The ring he used to wear, pages from an old love letter
Traces of love, long ago that didn't work out right
Traces of love, with me tonight.

I close my eyes and say a prayer
That in his heart, he'll find a trace of love still there,
Somewhere

Traces of hope in the night that he'll come back and dry
These traces of tears from my eyes.

Traces of hope in the night that he'll come back and dry
These traces of tears from my eyes.

I had to read back - eoe named Tender Things. I know she's busy, but maybe she can try and post the lyrics here. I didn't come up with any online.

Fools Like Me

Everybody tells me love is blind
maybe so cause I refuse to see
Everybody tells me the things you do
But I don't care cause I'm a fool for you
It doesn't really matter what you are
it only matters what you are to me
Maybe I'm not wise enough to see
but where would love be without fools like me

Maybe lovin' you is not so smart
Cause maybe in the end you'll break my heart
I really shouldn't love you but I do
and I can't stop cause I'm a fool for you
I only hope this kind of love is real
cause I can't never change the way I feel
maybe baby I'm not wise enough to see
but where would love be without fools like me

littlek, I'll have to listen to the song and get back to you. You made me realize that it's really not the lyrics but the melody of the song and the tonality and blending of his voice that touches me. Does anyone else have songs that touch them that way? Not by lyric but by it's melodies and chords, or a vocalist hits an awesome note that just moves you.

I checked the album cover and the sleeve but the lyrics aren't printed.

Hi all I'm new to this bit.
I see this song has been mentioned before,I Will Always Love - Whitney Houston's version.
The first 40 seconds of the track before the music cuts in gets me everytime. I've just played it, it sends me cold.

Summertime Love

Many times I've been told
By the wise and the old
Something good I'm supposed to remember
If my first love I've found
In the warmth of July
It'll cool in the nip of September
Now they point to the skies
Do the old and the wise
And they speak of a chill in the air
But I don't care

For still I love my summertime love
Still I love the kissing and the courting
Still I love my summertime love
With a heart still summertime true
Still I love my summertime love
Let the seasons change as they do

Oh still I love my summertime love
Still I love the kissing and the courting
Still I love my summertime love
With a heart still summertime true

Time

Time, flowing like a river
Time, beckoning me
Who knows when we shall meet again
If ever
But time
Keeps flowing like a river
To the sea

Goodbye my love,
Maybe for forever
Goodbye my love,
The tide waits for me
Who knows when we shall meet again
If ever
But time
Keeps flowing like a river (on and on)
To the sea, to the sea

Till it's gone forever
Gone forever
Gone forevermore

Goodbye my friends,
Maybe forever
Goodbye my friends,
The stars wait for me
Who knows where we shall meet again
If ever
But time
Keeps flowing like a river (on and on)
To the sea, to the sea

Till it's gone forever
Gone forever
Gone forevermore

Bella Rosa

Each Sunday morning at breaking of day
A most lovely creature she passes my way
I stand at my window to catch her eye
But her head never turns as she passes me by

Bella Rosa, Bella Rosa,
What is this feeling that haunts me so
Bella Rosa, Bella Rosa
Soon you must love me or let me go

As I Wander around thru the country side
There's many a girl that would be my bride,
But always before the vows I can say
Her image returns and she draws me away

Bella Rosa, Bella Rosa,
What is this feeling that haunts me so
Bella Rosa, Bella Rosa
Soon you must love me or let me go

It's Saturday night it's cold , it's bare
I sit in my room and just longingly stare
For I know comes the morning my heart will glow
At the sight of my love as she passes below

Bella Rosa, Bella Rosa,
What is this feeling that haunts me so
Bella Rosa, Bella Rosa
Soon you must love me or let me go

U2-Bloody Sunday

I CANýT CLOSE MY EYES AND MAKE IT GO AWAY

HOW LONG, HOW LONG MUST WE SING THIS SONG?
HOW LONG? TONIGHT WE CAN BE AS ONE

BROKEN BOTTLES UNDER CHILDRENýS FEET
BODIES STREWN ACROSS A DEAD END STREET
BUT I WONýT HEED THE BATTLE CALL
IT PUTS MY BACK UP,
PUTS MY BACK UP AGAINST THE WALL

SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY
SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY

AND THE BATTLEýS JUST BEGUN
THEREýS MANY LOST, BUT TELL ME WHO HAS WON?
THE TRENCHES DUG WITHIN OUR HEARTS
AND MOTHERýS CHILDREN, BROTHERS,SISTERS FROM APART

SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY
SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY

HOW LONG, HOW LONG MUST WE SING THIS SONG?
HOW LONG? TONIGHT WE CAN BE AS ONE.
TONIGHT, TONIGHT

SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY
SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY

WIPE THE TEARS FROM OUR EYES
WIPE YOUR TEARS AWAY
WIPE YOUR BLOODSHOT EYES

SUNDAY BLOODY SUNADY
SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY

AND ITýS TRUE WE ARE IMMUNE
WHEN FACT IS FICTION AND T.V. IS REALITY
AND TODAY THE MILLIONS CRY
WE EAT AND DRINK WHILE TOMORROW THEY DIE
THE REAL BATTLE JUST BEGUN
TO CLAIM THE VICTOTY JESUS WON
ON A SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY
SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY

Cowboy Junkies Diane? I used to know them personally before they got big. Great band. I have the same feelings regarding Gorecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs. One religious work that gives me chills in Ordo Virtutum by the Abbess Hildegard von Bingen. That's another one I need to listen to on my own.

To Love is To Bury
Cowboy Junkies

I buried him down by the river
'cause that's where he liked to be
and every night when the moon is high
I go there and weep openly

He and I were married
By this river 'neath this willow tree
and with God and friends witnessing it
He pledged his life to me

To me he was Earth
and I rooted in his soil
I to he was Sky vast and free
of the burdens from which he toiled

Then one night a terrible fight
Words spoken better left unsaid
With his wedding vows ringing in my ears
He gave his life to me

They say to love is to bury
Those demons from which we all hide
But tonight by this river 'neath this willow tree
Becoming one of Earth and Sky

The Eternal
Joy Division

Procession moves on, the shouting is over,
Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone.
Talking aloud as they sit round their tables,
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain.
Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden,
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky,
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment,
Possessed by a fury that burns from inside.

Cry like a child, though these years make me older,
With children my time is so wastefully spent,
A burden to keep, though their inner communion,
Accept like a curse an unlucky deal.
Played by the gate at the foot of the garden,
My view stretches out from the fence to the wall,
No words could explain, no actions determine,
Just watching the trees and the leaves as they fall.

I Am Stretched on Your Grave

I am stretched on your grave
And will lie there forever
With your hands held in mine
I'd be sure we'd not sever
My apple tree my brightness
'Tis time we were together
For I smell of the earth
And am stained by the weather

When my family thinks
That I'm safe in my bed
From night until morning
I am stretched at your head
Calling out to the air
With tears both hot and wild
Oh I grieve for the girl
That I loved as a child

The priests and the friars
Behold me in dread
Because I still love you
My love and you're dead
I would still be your shelter
From rain and from storm
And with you in your cold grave
I cannot sleep warm

OH!
Bonnie Raitt. Her "Luck of the Draw" album. Many of the cuts just wear me out! And that slide guitar touches my soul.
Also Tracy Chapman.

Just remembered this because it's been a while - "Hurt" by Johnny Cash - it makes me bawl like a baby

speaking of Bonnie Raitt, "I Can't Make You Love Me" is another tune that tickles the tear ducts

Cats In The Cradle.

Always makes me all teary, just thinking about how fast time goes by and how we have very little time to enjoy it. (Sigh...)

Where the lost ones go
This is mostly because of personal reasons...

Where The Lost Ones Go
(Espen Lind & Sissel)

Leave and let me go
You're not meant for me, I know
Carry on, carry on, and I'll stay strong

Leave and let me go
I will think of you, I know
But carry on, carry on, and I'll stay strong

Someone else will keep you warm, from now on
Someone else will keep you safe from the storm
But I'll be with you wherever you go
So you will never be alone
I'm going where the wind blows
Going where the lost ones go

Leave and let me go
Don't look back just let me know
You'll carry on, carry on, you must stay strong

Nothing ever looks the same in the light
Nothing ever seems to quite turn out right
But when you realize that you have been loved
You will never be alone
I'm going where the wind blows
Going where the lost ones go

I will be with you
I'm losing the love I found
Crying without a sound
Where have you gone?
I will be with you
You were my fool for love
Sent me from high above
You were the one
I will be with you
I'm going where the wind blows
Going where the lost ones go

Leave and let me go
Baby I can't come along
So carry on, carry on, you must stay strong

Where do i start?
Angel - by Sarah McLachlan

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
