Is anyone having troubles with yahoo email files?

I can't access any files on my yahoo email account for some reason. Whenever I click on an email with a file attached to it, all it says is undisclosed recipient where the file should be. Is anyone else having this problem, or know what may be causing it?

I have no problem with Yahoo access or recv or sending emails. However, that doesn't neccesarily mean that your connection isn't being affected by some probelm. However, I don't think this is about access to connection of a mail server. I think what might be going on is something wrong in how you're addressing a recipient:

Are you trying to use BCC for addressing recipients?

If you are, then place your email address in the 'To' line and click on bcc up above and enter the other recipients. That works for me. With Yahoo, there has to be a valid email address in the 'To' line.

If this is not how you're doing addressing a recipient or this seems unfamiliar to you, try checking what you're doing differently with how you are applying your address. I would also look to see if there is something wrong about the process of attaching the file. Try doing this slowly and see if you can spot something wrong.

I hope this helps.

OK.. I jsut tried it. I was right. If you mess up the sending to addressees by not properly typing legit addressees for example, putting no or bad addressees in 'BCC' instead of CC 'To', you will get that error of undisclosed recipient.

Check your process...and make sure you have a legit addressee.

@Ragman,
Right, but the problem seems to be with incoming emails with attachments.

Does this happen always, or only some emails? I'm guessing the problem is with the sender having used BCC. I seldom open attachments, and never from unknown senders, so I can't say if I've had this particular problem or not.

@roger,
the error may be caused by someone on either end -- from your own end or the or someone who receives msg and/or attachment from someone who had sent on BCC line and had unknown recipient.

@roger,
Well see here's the thing, I hadn't had any trouble with downloading any files at all from email till just recently. I had went to download some files that had been stored there via Backup2Email (mind you they had worked fine before), and I couldn't access any of them. Other emails with files attached, had the same problem. Oddly enough though, a file I had sent to myself this afternoon to print out at school tonight, I could access just fine. Yet the others still don't work. I don't get it.

@ajk21,
Backup2Email violates the terms of use of any free email account. They don't want to offer their services for you to use as a free remote hard drive, so maybe they are blocking your circumvention of their Acceptable Use Policy.

@Robert Gentel,
Hmm interesting, I was not aware of that. I did notice my trial with them had run out a bit ago or was about to (and with it the options I had with the original software), maybe that's connected to this issue?

@ajk21,
Well, I'm not sure, I am noticing that in going back to check other files I sent to other people, that I can't access those either for the same reason as the backup2email files. Not sure about any older ones I had been sent, since my search function isn't functioning. Not quite sure what is going on though.

@ajk21,
Are your attachments being pruned? I don't know Yahoo mail well, it's been years since I ever used it.

Incidentally, Windows Live SkyDrive might be a better option for you. I haven't used it but they say they give you 25GB of free online storage. It might be a better free solution for backups, but if you really want to do backups right I recommend paying for the storage through Amazon S3, and using a tool like jungledisk.

@Robert Gentel,
Well I use other things too, mybloop primarly (when it's working), as it offers unlimited storage space. I actually had wanted to take my files from my email and place them elsewhere till I ran into this problem.

What do you mean by pruned BTW?

@ajk21,
Sometimes some software automatically removes older files or records when they have space limits. I was wondering if that might be the case for you, with Yahoo pruning older attachments since you are able to see newer ones but not older ones.

@Robert Gentel,
Hmm that may be, but I thought they had no space limits now.
