I've been playing guitar for a year now, but am still having problems learning the fretboard, or being able to play without looking at it. I've done lots of different guitar speed exercises. One person suggested I play in the dark or with my eyes closed to get used to the sound each note on each string makes. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
how often do you practice?
If you can' t play consistently then you are putting the cart before the horse. If you can't play it slowly, you damn sure can't play it fast. Don't worry about speed until you're accurate.
There is a dvd of exercises for strength and stamina called hands of steel. Very helpful.
