1.) One-Kirk Hammet(Metallica)
2.)Cemetery Gates-Dimebag Darrell(Pantera)
3.)Free Bird-Gary Rossington(Lynard Skynard)
4.)No More Tears-Zakk Wylde(Ozzy)
5.)Walk-Dimebag Darrell(Pantera)
You forgot Jimmy Hendrix' Woodstock performance of the Star Spangled Banner.
or Simon & Garfunkle's Angie
Don't forget: Stairway To Heaven-Led Zeppelin
A fetching avatar, colorbook.
Freebird is definately number one.
I didn't forget Jimi's Star Spangled rendition, it is just Zakk Wylde's version is better, and it didn't even make my list.
You guys are forgetting Ted Nugent's work on Stranglehold.
I voted for Ted and Led on Greatest Guitar Riffs thread.
Jimi Hendrix, Machine Gun....I know Child is fond of that one...
Man...I gotta come back to this, too many to think about now...Kirk Hammet too, there are many Kirk solos I love, so have to think if 'One' should make top five...
Hey everyone, Ted Nugent has a new "reality" show that will air this weekend, Sunday on VH1, called "Surviving Ted Nugent". At one point he wakes up all the contestents with a 100 DB version of the Star Spangled Banner. Check your local listings, every guitar lovin', gun totin' R&Rer needs to check it out.
Cav,
Not to sound obsessive, but I am very fond of a song titled Machine Gun man, but it is done by Zakk Wylde. Such an awesome song!
Tough choice. Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There? or Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb would probably be my favourite.
By lucky chance, I was able to attend a concert given by Andres Segovia in San Francisco in the mid 60's. I don't remember any particular composition, just the totality of the music done by a master. Something I will never forget.
I recently saw a solo by Michael Angelo(I was told about it by invidious cynic) and it was incredible. "Speed Kills" is the name, and I'd recommend it to all of you.
Hmm
Led Zeppelin - Since I've been loving you
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Skynard - Freebird
umm umm..!! will come back to this later. Great topic btw though i can't believe no one else picked Since I've been loving you
One I almost forgot:
The Outlaws - Green Grass and High Tides Forever
I like the solo for "Scar Tissue" by R.H.C.P
It's a prime example that simplicity is excellent. BUT NOT THROUGH AN ENTIRE MUSICAL CAREER!!
Henry Paul band: Grey Ghost
Jethro Tull: Oh God, Kissing Willie, Whaler's Dues, Pussy Willow (Instrumental version), Pibroch (pee-break instrumental), Black Sunday, Aqualung.
