I've got 4, 7, 14, 19, 27, 38, 47, 49, 81, 86, 94, and 93 and significant lumps of about a third of the others on compilations and single song downloads. What a romantic dude I turned out to be.

I don't agree with the list generally (Tricky's Black Steel on Maxinquaye is not romantic) and some of them are 'saccharine romance' and yet others pick the wrong album by the artist (eg Bjork, Enigma).

Can't believe Fisherman's Woman by Emiliana Torrini or A Book Like This by Angus and Julia Stone didn't make it, or even Ben Lee's 'Awake is the new sleep'.

But lists are just lists - a wee bit o' fun.

I've owned #1, #8, #20, a Roberta Flack, not sure of the title, an Aretha, not sure of the title, a Paolo Conte disc which I've in my giveaway pile - maybe I should listen again, Brubeck #78.

I don't know the Willie Nelson album except for a couple of songs. I would imagine many are ballads such as "She left me with a woodie".

I have Coltrane's 'Blue Train'. I can think of a lot of words to describe it and 'romantic' is not one of them. Who compiles this **** anyhow?

Not so long ago the missus and I were discussing music we considered to be romantic, and I named this album. She said I was confusing "romantic" with "gettin' it on." Is there a significant difference? If there is, then I think she has a point that Portishead doesn't quite fit this list. In its place I might propose, oh I don't know... maybe something by the Cowboy Junkies?

I think Blood on the Tracks by Bob Dylan is a very romantic album.
His voice breaks in 'If you see her say hello'
You're gonna make me lonssome when you go
Buckets of Rain..
the whole record is sort of a recittation of his history with his wife and his goodbye to her.
