My favorite independent bookstore is having a 20% off sale for members this weekend, and I can't rely on my usual crutch, the "Holiday Books" issue of the NYT Book Review. (Not out yet, couldn't turn it up online.)
There are two main people I'm looking for recommendations for:
1.) My dad. He likes Carl Hiassen, Elmore Leonard, thinks Kinky Friedman is OK, is wild about James Ellroy. (I introduced him to the latter two.) He owns every book by all of these authors except for Kinky, though.
2.) My mother in law. She likes pastoral, happy/ humorous stories, with a hefty dose of nature; Bill Bryson, Gerald Durrell, "A Year in Provence".
Any ideas?
THANKS!
Look over Jimmy Buffet. He did a couple of books remarkably similar in tone to Elmore Leonard.
I thought I'd test an
Amazon feature through our portal page.
