One of my favorite countries is Sweden. There's not much I would change except to shorten it's winter.

Israel. My first act would be to call on the Arab nations to reopen the 2002 Saudi proposal and my next act would be working toward accepting it.

They offered pan-Arab normalization of relations with Israel for peace and they conceded on just about every sticking point in their territorial conflict. It's a crime against future Israelis and Palestinians that the negotiations haven't moved enough in the last couple of years where the conflict has been calm and Israel is missing some strong leadership.

For the last several years there has been a viable and likely path to peace in the mid east if Israel wants it.

Of course, all of this assumes that in this fantasy I get to be an Israeli. This is too sensitive an issue to work with a foreign leader.

BTW, why do you tag these "human interest stories"? These may be interesting to humans and all, but that term is usually taken to mean a fluff news story and these threads don't really fit that tag.

What tag do you suggest?

I don't know of any single one that would work on all of the threads you tag that way, but I tagged this one "politics" and "geopolitics" myself, "foreign policy" might also fit.

For the others here are examples of what I'd tag:

If elected leader of any country whatsoever -- and that includes the USA -- my first official act would be to resign immediately. I don't want to live in any country where people like me get to be head of state or government.
