The radio station that played them was no help when I e-mailed them... Don't remember much about either song, except I liked them...
First one, lyrics were something like "You say you love me but you love yourself"
Second one, all I can remember is "My heart's on overdrive." Both were pop/rock kinda songs, with female vocals. Anyone? I'd be so happy if I knew what the songs were! Anyone even know the songs I'm talking about?
Welcome to A2k, SkrambledChaos, hope you like it here!
Sadly, I cannot help - but hopefully somebody can when more folk come online.
Is this the first one? Still working on the second. If that isn't the first one, I'll need a few more lines or key words from the song.
You Could Never Love Me
-written by Jeremy Gloff
VERSION ONE
-appears on True Stories (1993)
You could never love me
You could never even love yourself
Why did you just say that you do
I am not some plastic doll
Like all the other ones you hang around
I only play the clown
Why did you say you love me
You know you don't really care for me
And I'd rather have no one
Than your shallow sympathy
If I cannot have you as a lover
I will take you as a friend
When you say you don't care
Then I pretend
All it is is pretend
When you said you loved me
I asked what you'd do
If I never talked to you again
You said "it would be weird"
That's all you said
I wish I could slam down my phone
And have the courage to tell you
Leave me alone
We don't hang up till midnight
And I hate myself for letting you take me on a ride
I said I didn't love you
But you know that I lied
How can you fool around with someone who cares about you?
Was I foolish enough to think your words were true?
The I love you I said
Was better left unsaid.
VERSION TWO
-appears on Below The Velvet (1993)
You could never love me
You could never even love yourself
Why did you just say that you do
I am not some plastic doll
Like all the other fools you hang around
I only play your clown
Why did you say you love me
You know you don't really care for me
And I'd rather have no one
Than your shallow sympathy
And if I cannot have you as a lover
I will take you as a friend
When you say you don't care
That's when I pretend
All it is is pretend
Chorus:
Cause you could never love yourself
You could never love anyone around you
But next to you is where I wanna be
Maybe you love yourself too much
Think there's white light all around you
Come and share some of your bitterness with me.
When you said you loved me
I asked what you'd do
If I never talked to you again
You said "it would be weird"
And that was all you said
I wish I could slam down my phone
And have the courage to tell you
Leave me alone
But I don't think that I
Really want you to go
Repeat Chorus
We don't hang up till midnight
And I hate myself for letting you take me on a ride
I said I didn't love you
But you know that I lied
You take me for granted
My love, for you
You know no matter what you say
I'll believe it's all true
The I love you you said
Was better left unsaid
Repeat Chorus
Ok, think this one is the second one. If not, I'll need more key words from that song too.
I Believe In A Thing Called Love Lyrics
by Darkness
Send this song to a friend - Print - Download MP3
Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel
My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel
Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my hart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!
I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day
You got me in a spin but everything is A.OK!
Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my hart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh! Guitar!
Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my hart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!
I know the Darkness song isn't what I'm looking for... and unless Jeremy Gloff sounds very feminine, that one ain't right either. Thanks for posting, hopefully someone knows the ones I'm looking for .
It's written by Jeremy, not necessarily sung by him.
You may need to give us some more words from the songs. What you gave are some rather common words found in many songs.
Yes, well...if I knew more words, I wouldn't be here, I'd have found the songs myself!

Just heard those tiny bits on the radio...
Do you know which station it was and have you looked to see if they have a website and possibly a play list by date? Might be able to find some clues from that.
