@Linkat,
A roommate I had in college had a python. Strange, I went for a long time where I could hold it, let it wrap around my arm, etc. Didn't bother me a bit.
Then all of a sudden, one day, I just couldn't do it.

I wouldn't mind holding another snake, so may it was just this one.

The first thing I thought when I lightly touched the capy was "whoa, this is like a porcupine!" Then I realized it really wasn't, but it's hairs are stiffish like that.

The only way to describe it is it's like straw that you lay on the barn floor, all facing in the same direction. It was like you really couldn't scratch it like you would a dog or cat, which I tried to do.

The face was sooooooo sweet. Big brown eyes on this long face.

@chai2,
I petted a baby bullshark at the New Orleans Aquarium,
just before Katrina. He was not entirely submerged in water.
There was an 11 year old girl next to his tank, lecturing about him.
Thay had 11 year old lecturers thru out that aquarium, at the time.
I distributed $50 bills to some of them.

Not long thereafter, I saw another bullshark on TV.
He was upside down, and he was BARKING !
I heard him bark 3 times.

Whodathunk sharks coud say anything ???

@chai2,
Quote:
I was in a pet smart, most people bring their dogs
with them, this person brought his capybera.

What next?

the capybera stood on my foot.

how many others can say that?

One summer nite, last summer,
a racoon stood on my left foot.
He was crossing my back yard.
I greeted him. He was serene and went on his way.

@Linkat,

I held a python - it was a yellow one. That was cool.

Yeah, I did too.
At a convention, after a herpetological lecture,
his owner draped him over my shoulders and someone took a picture.
He weighed around 100 pounds.
I still have it around somewhere (the picture, not the snake).

I tend to love animals.
I watch them on HDTV.

When I visit another city,
I usually visit its zoo.

@mismi,
When I touched a bullshark,
I did not wash my hands until I returned to my hotel,
after watching an Imax movie.
He felt clean.

@chai2,
OMG they actually do! haha "During the Christian celebration of Lent, capybara meat is especially popular as it is claimed that the Catholic church, in a special dispensation, classified the animal as a fish in the 16th century. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capybara
