Here's one gripe I have with the recession? Couldn't it have hit a little earlier?

Just over three years ago, on October 10, 2005, I entered a bet with Walter Hinteler and Steve (41oo) "that the price of Texas light crude is higher in real terms (inflation adjusted) at close of trading on NYSE on 10 Oct 2008 than today." I just lost that bet. But if the cutoff date had been this past Friday, I would have one. Arrrrrrgh!

@Thomas,
"would have won". My sense of language has officially left me.

@Thomas,
Have you paid up yet?

Went to the mall the other day to sit in Barnes & Noble and read / chat/ have coffee with the kids. The Christmas decorations are up! Two weeks before Halloween the Christmas decorations are up! Everyone was having a sale. Most were advertising 60-70% off.

@squinney,
The bet was for a dinner. Neither of the two has showed up in the New York area to claim his prize yet.

One of the small things weve done is to skip many of the Christmas Parties that , wjhile invitational, still require shelling out big bucks. Ive sent regrets to several cultural orgs about "We are closely watching our finances and discretionary funds must be monitored closely at this time"

Admitting that one isnt made of money isnt so bad. It makes me aim higher. Funnt thing is, eve had several orgs get back to us letting us know that they are thinking of dropping their party ticket prices. Like thats supposed to make me feel like I was not being gouged before.

OH YEH, heres another one, just think about it.
BULK GENERIC CEREAL. For some of you that can add up.

Breakfast for dinner. Also, not owning anything. My lack of possessions never devalue.
