@dfdelicious,
dfd :

we cruised from valparaiso/chile around the horn and on to lisbon portugal in late march/early april 2006 (about six weeks) .
while there was plenty of wave action - seas up to 15-20 feet - the weather was pretty good - we had a clear view of the horn while rounding the horn .
the weather is really unpredictable , there can be fog one day and sunshine the next .
we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise - even though we were laid low by the norfolk virus for a couple of days - take pepto bismal as a "precaution" along and take it if you feel the slightest twinge in your gut !
we were taking a seasick pill every morning , because once mal de mere hits you , it'll spoil your vacation .

@hamburger,
I did my cruise in November, but only from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires. Mine was similar to hbg's cruise with clear and foggy days thrown into the mix. The water was pretty calm. I wasn't able to see the horn on that cruise, but on my cruise to Antarctica in January, we were able to see the horn, and was able to take some pictures of it.
