What is your definition of a real friend?

@OmSigDAVID,
I agree with David; everybody must have more in this life than a "good friend." The "confinement" would kill me.

@OmSigDAVID,
there is no truer statement than "you can pick your friends but not your relatives".

@Izzie,
Quote:
With a true friend.... with those personal definitions - risk all, risk nothing. No risk.

I have no fear with my "true" friend - therefore there will be no loss. My belief only.

I can kinda see that; sorta.
I have a friend; he 's dead now; died about 13 times in Las Vegas.
Anyway, he was indigent. He had a business that failed
and a marriage that failed.
I kinda suspected him possibly, of stealing a gold ring
with diamonds and a ruby that I had around,
but (assuming the worst), I don 't begrudge it to him.
I certainly never accused him of anything.

He made up for its loss with contributed wise, astute commentary.
If he did: I don 't care.
If he didn 't: I don 't care, but I am still out the ring.

Anyway, his counsel was worth it.
