A group of tourists captured the moment a rattlesnake appeared alongside their boat on Folsom Lake in California.
The venomous snake swam alongside the boat before making its way round the back and slithering onto the wooden decking. Despite screams of "Oh my God!" from those on board, the snake didn't make it much farther.
The boat sped off, eventually leaving the reptile in its wake.
My own personal animal kingdom - wish I had a picture but alas I do not.
We let our dog out free in our backyard - with us watching him- our yard is big with a nice wooded area followed by a creek so a doggie's favorite playground. He also doesn't wonder too far as he is definitely a home body and loves to be in the house where one does not dirty their paws.
Any way the other night we let him out. We did not notice at first that there was an opossum lumbering around toward the edges of the wooded area of our yard.
What does doggie do - he walks up to the opossum simply sniffs at him (did he think he was a strange looking doggie friend - who knows) - opossum returns the sniff and fortunately doggie returned when we frantically called him.
I think since the opossum was moving slowly the dog didn't run at him - had it been a squirrel or rabbit the dog would have chased him.
