L'Affaire Dumoutier
By The Box
L'Affaire Dumoutier (Original Version)
On the 14th of October
Very early in the morning
The results of a crime were found
In the stables of Le Père Choupant
The old man had discovered
To his absolute dismay
The dislocated body
Of Elizabeth Dumoutier
So
The police was called in
I was handed the inquiry
Upon arriving on the scene
Some photographs were shot
A couple of small time journalists
Were raising their fists among the crowd
Shouting:
"Hey c'est Austin le coupable!!"
"C'est lui qui a fait le coup je vous dis moi!"
"Ben oui, c'est Austin quoi, merde!"
"Eh bien alors là, comment c'est que vous savez ça vous deux?"
"Ben c'est normal, tout le monde les a vus quitter le bal ensemble hier soir!"
Walking, walking,
On the tight rope of insanity
On the verge of loosing mind
Walking, walking,
On the tight rope of insanity
On the verge of loosing mind
The man was found on a nearby road
Wandering without a goal
In a complete state of amnesia
And his hair filled with straw
Though the whole thing seemed unreal
It soon became quite clear
That Austin, the author of this crime
Needed swift assistance
"Allez, allez, monsieur le commissaire maintenant
il va faire le coup de gars qui ne se rappelled de rien!"
"Toi je t'interdis de publier tes salads dans ton canard de merde
jusqu'à ce que le procès soit terminé"
(The Commissioner)
"Look Pal
Your rag doesn't get any of this
Until the trial is over, clear?"
Walking, walking,
On the tight rope of insanity
On the verge of loosing mind
Walking, walking,
On the tight rope of insanity
On the verge of loosing mind

Exhaustive study on the subject
Led experts to conclude
Austin had been the victim of a strange case
Of split personality
The trial neared its end
And though the facts had been exposed
The crowd still wanted blood
Well, they were in for a big surprise!

A big thank you
Dear ceili
My sister (who lives in california) and me (in israel - 10 hours apart by time zones and oh so many hours by plane) make it a sacred ritual to call each other every 14th of october and sing each other the few words that we did figure out of this song.
we've been doing this since forever so a big big thank you !!!
Tal (& i'm sure my sister, naama, joins in the gratitude)
It is doubly my pleasure.
The song is by The Box, a Canadian band. It's called L'affaire Dumoutier.
@talmorgi,
The song is "l'affair Dumoutier" by The Box. It is the last song in a 3-song set concerning insanity and love. The Box was a Québecois group who recorded in both French and English. Their lead vocalist, Jean Marc, had a stage presence to rival Francis Cabrel or Johnny Cash. I know. I've seen all three. I really hope you follow up on this. The song is recorded on their CD "All the Time, All the Time, All the Time."
